As I have led Orange County Rescue Mission over the years, volunteerism has been a key component of our organization. Not only does it keep our costs down, so we are able to steward our cash and in kind donations. But just as importantly, volunteerism builds connections – relationships that serve both our students and the volunteers themselves.
For over five years Orange County Rescue Mission has been served by volunteers Ken and Pam Lask.  At barbecue gatherings, playing with kids in PCE or reaching out to the homeless throughout Orange County on the Chili Van, Ken and Pam have blessed numerous people.
And now, Ken and Pam are trying something new. Based on some of the teachings that have helped them, Ken and Pam have created a life skills class for students, and are giving the instruction! They keep the class interactive, passing on their skills and wisdom on subjects like communication, stress and time management and ethics in the workplace. One of the Lasks’ many unique qualities is that they know it is good to be challenged, and “get out of their comfort zone.”  And apparently they have found that volunteering at Orange County Rescue Mission is a great place to be challenged and grow!
Thank you Ken and Pam!
